On the cover this month is a photograph of a Tri-colored Heron taken by John Steelman in mid-April 2024. Steelman started his photography journey while in the Marine Corps. Roughly six years ago, he replaced coaching his son in baseball with photographing his son playing baseball - which led to other sports as well. A few years into shooting sports, he came across pelican photos online and thought it would be fun to photograph them. This started his slow journey into photographing birds and wildlife, and he was hooked.
